Genuinely nice guy and one of the better professors I've had. He explains everything slowly and coherently - spends first 10 minutes every lecture recapping everything, and makes a genuine effort to ensure classes are not so mundane(he does quick show and tells at the start of each lecture/shows us cool things/meme Mondays). He made coming to lecture fun and I enjoyed taking this class with him.
But this dude just gives a lot of homework. Maybe he gives us so much work because the math department controls a lot of key aspects of how lower divs are conducted(like the 24 hrs exams, which make it easier to score etc), but like yeah expect the homework to go up on CCLE weekly and expect it to take up 7-8 hours of your time(best case!). Otherwise, exams were mostly fair(one proof-y question on Midterm 2 killed everyone lol), and the course is anyway typically easy content-wise - at least relative to the rest of the 30 series.
He was one of the best professors I had freshman year. His lectures were clear and easy to follow. His exams were fair and he gave extra credit which was GREAT. He was also very helpful and approachable. And as the other posts say he is good looking.
I don't know why he doesn't have better ratings. He is an amazing professor. His tests are easy and relevant to what he teaches. He gives extra credit for showing up to lecture for crying out loud. Clear lectures. Great office hours. One of the best professors I have had at UCLA
Math background is not so strong, and he made it worse. Did not teach effectively. Literally just read off his notes and didn't seem to engage his students.
PS-- Good looking fella, looks like the blonde version of Zac Efron.
PPS-- Math TA = cutieee (Alex Wertheim)
Okay the other reviewers are right. Eric uses a big notebook all the time from which he copies notes, so his lectures can get boring sometimes. But he does offer extra credit during a random lecture to reward attendance. He is very willing to help you after class and in his office hour for all kinds of questions. This is very important for 131A. Eric's exams are pretty fair. All you have to do is to memorize important definitions and nearly all the theorem proofs. This sounds silly, but this is what 131A is all about. Overall I'd recommend him for 131A, plus he's a good looking stud.:)

It was a pretty straightforward class. He's a pretty straightforward teacher. He's very open and will kindly answer questions during lecture.
If you do the homework and the practice problems and study you can pass the midterms and final.
The book is on PDF, although you have to pay around $60 for a program called aleks (similar to khans academy) to go over problems online.
Post-midterm less and less people started coming to lecture and one day he gave extra credit for everyone that was in class, so don't skip lecture.
I came to his office hours three times, once again he's really helpful, I would suggest going as soon as you need help instead of waiting to go to the last office hour before a test because they do tend to fill up and you might not even get a chance to get your question answered.
Make sure to get a discussion as late in the week as possible because I had a Tuesday discussion and he would send out the homework assignments Monday night so I rarely had time to do it for the following day and have questions for the TA especially because the homework has problems that will be covered throughout the week.
This class was taught pretty well, but I did find myself going to the textbook a lot or Youtube to further understand concepts. Professor Radke let us have a week to do assignments. I had Radke for MATH 33A too and I don't know why but it felt like he assigned so much more homework for this class, and it was always super long and slightly repetitive. The tests were nice, because he gave us 24 hours and the questions were pretty close to what we learned in class. Radke usually never rushed through the lecture, but sometimes I wouldn't understand what he was explaining because he skipped steps. Discussion isn't mandatory , but it can be pretty helpful for seeing problems similar to the homework and tests. I'd just be careful not to make any stupid mistakes on the midterms or final, and make sure to turn the homework in on time, because the grading distribution was 25% for each midterm, 30% final, and 20% homework. Radke is a good person in general but I'd just be weary of the homework he assigns!
He is a very good professor. He does his best to answer the students questions and makes sure that you understand the material. If you ask a question during class, he will answer it and help you understand it.
He is handsome but thats not really important. Take his class. He's laid back yet willing to help you. You kind of have to learn the material on your own tho. Its just math, if you get it, you get it. The class had 2 midterms and 1 final. Overall a good experience.
