I loved this class! Dr. Goff is an amazing human being and is so passionate about teaching :) This class was very engaging and I learned a lot of interesting topics about developmental psychology. My favorite was learning about cognitive processing theories as well as learning about the effects of stress on developmental growth. Her tests are very fair (although her wordings is sometimes tricky, just make sure you read the questions thoroughly), you will def ace them if you study!!! She recommended to go through the slides and pretend like you were the one presenting the lecture and I found this really helpful! You have weekly written assignments that are very easy and usually less than a page long. They are also very helpful because she typically makes you write about the tricker course topics, so the written assignments were a great way for me to really look deeper into these topics and make sure I understood them for the test! Also I don't usually go to office hours but I went to Dr. Goff's a lot and she is so sweet and understanding and knowledgable.
Overall, great class! Would def recommend :))))
Taking this course with Goff was indeed a game-changer for me. Developmental psych is so fascinating it has me entertaining an ADP minor. Goff's lectures were always engaging and they went by quickly. She is SO ACCOMMODATING. I mean this woman was so understanding and nurturing amid some complications this quarter like the TA strike. The grading/assignments are beyond reasonable but I will say the exams are slightly tricky. It's just a learning curve though. After the first midterm I feel like you get the hang of the types of questions asked. Anyway, take this class because it's the best course I've taken at UCLA.
This class was so easy and stress free compared to other upper divs. Goff is so understanding and funny, it's hard to get bored during her lectures. The lectures are optional as she uploads recordings online, but I would recommend going because it will be one of the most interesting and engaging psych classes you will take at UCLA. Discussion attendance is mandatory, but the TAs help you review the material. There are weekly writing assignments, but they too help you review the material and are easy! There were some tricky questions on the exams, but you can make it up with extra credit. Take this class! You will not regret it!
Proffesor Goff is truly an amazing instructor. I absolutely loved her lectures and the way she structured the course. She was able to keep my attention throughout the duration of the class. Furthermore, the examples she used to illustrate certain concepts were unique and easy enough to understand to better comprehend the bigger picture. The class consists of 3 exams: 2 midterms ( the lowest is dropped) and final. The exams are not hard and the exam questions are similar to the in class questions. So no surprise there. The only downside I guess was that discussion was mandatory. The written assignements were easy and fun to do. I would definitely take another class with Goff!
Professor Goff is HANDS DOWN the best professor I've met at UCLA. She's super friendly, warm, approachable, and most importantly very knowledgeable about the material she covers. Her exams were straight forward, questions taken straight from the lecture/videos watched in class, and she is just an absolute treasure. The assignments for this class were also low stress, and meant to be reflective of our own lives rather than solely focused on the concepts from the material alone. I'm already enrolled to take her again for other classes she's teaching these next upcoming semesters, because I loved her that much. If you have the choice, ALWAYS go with Goff!! :)
TAKE! THAT'S ALL I HAVE TO SAY! You will not regret it, she is truly the best human being ever. She makes everything so applicable and understandable.
188B classes vary but the one I took this Winter was called "A Dynamic Perspective on Parenting" and it was excellent. We watched many documentaries, the lectures were entertaining, slides and audios of the lecture were posted on CCLE. The 4 written assignments were not difficult and I actually enjoyed writing them. The exams were multiple choice with one essay question (prompt was given in advance) and they were relatively easy as well. I love this class and I loved being taught by professor Goff! Take it!
Dr. Goff is one of the best professors on campus. Her lectures are very clear. This class taught me so much and I highly recommend this course. The material isn't heavy at all and it is a fun class to take regardless of your major. The exams are not hard and the four writing assignments are super fun to write and they are mostly about yourself. You will get an A with a bit of an effort. If you're looking for an easier psych course, this class is it! I would take this class again even if it was the hardest class on campus simply because Dr. Goff is amazing!
Professor Goff is one of my favorite professors at UCLA. She is so kind and is extremely engaging. She wants all of her students to succeed and will do whatever she needs to do to make that happen. Her exams are short answer, but they are directly from lecture and readings so there is nothing tricky about them. If you keep up with your work and pay attention in lecture, you will receive an A. Take all of her classes!!!! She is amazing!
