I think old reviews for Dr. Cohen don't paint a fair picture. He really is a nice guy who cares about students and wants them to succeed. He does his absolute best to make himself available, plenty of office hours, giving out his cell#, etc.
Overall, this class can be a LOT of work for a ChemE elective. Don't let it being an elective fool you. Expect the following: biweekly homework, exams, weekly progress reports, presentations, final projects, etc. Easily more work than a standard ChemE class, more comparable to a lab. While it's a large amount of work, the course is pretty interesting/unique, and in the end he grades very generously.
