The GOAT!
Hands down the best ECE professor when it comes to teaching. He’s like a real-life ChatGPT—he somehow answers every question you might be thinking during the lecture, as if he’s reading your mind. He breaks down complex concepts into the simplest, most direct explanations, making even the hardest topics feel easy.
His notes and slides are top-tier!

He also does this amazing “try harder” policy—if you improve your final exam score by 10–20%, he shifts a portion of your midterm grade to the final. Super motivating and really fair.

If you do the assignments on your own and go through the practice exams, you’ll be in great shape. He doesn’t curve, but honestly, he doesn’t need to—the averages are already pretty high.

Make sure you go to the TA-led review sessions—they’re super helpful and definitely worth your time. There’s no separate discussion section; the TA’s office hours are where those happen.

Also, go to the professor’s office hours whenever you can. He’s incredibly kind, listens well, and will never make you feel like your question is dumb. If you can attend every one of his office hours, do it—he’s truly the GOAT.

While the algebra was a bit heavy, overall the class was pretty easy. The exam questions (while math heavy) were very straightforward since the professor was not trying to trick people. As for the lectures, the professor was very clear while lecturing although the lectures could get a bit dry sometimes (not the professors fault. This is simply due to the nature of the material). Overall, I would highly recommend.

Professor Zhang puts in a real effort in conducting his lectures, and it shows. He spends a lot of time making sure every topic on his slides, every practice problem, every diagram is explained thoroughly as if ECE 3 isn't a pre req for this class. I ended up not going to lecture because of this, I felt the classes were redundant, but if you struggled in ECE 3 or didn't feel you learned much from Briggs then don't feel intimidated my taking ECE 10 with Zhang. The midterm and final are extremely fair -- midterm avg was 70s and final avg was 88.8. HW is 30%, Midterm 30% and final 60%. He offers 2% bonus credit for being in the top 10% of contributors on Piazza, 1% for the course eval, and he even has a "try harder" adjustment to your midterm if you had a 10 - 20 point increase in the final. Overall, professor Zhang is extrememly passionate and meticulate in his lectures and I am happy I had him.

Very reasonable hw, midterm, and final. Lectures can get boring but that's mostly due to the nature of the material, not the professor.

I believe this was Professor Zhang's first time teaching ECE 10, and it was fairly straightforward. In contrast to ECE 3, where you are merely introduced to various methods such as NVA, Impedance, and so on, Professor Zhang goes into detail about each topic and shows many examples in lecture.

His exams are fair and simple (Midterm Median ~ 89, Final Median ~ 85). If you review lecture examples and tackle the homework problems honestly, you should be fine. If you want to feel more prepared, I recommend doing extra problems from YouTube or the textbook (but this is not required).

I will say that he would sometimes ramble on about proofs, which could make you feel lost at times, but just remember that they are not required to be known. You'll do well if you understand both the lecture examples and main topics! He's very friendly and nice during office hours!
