Not a good professor at UCLA. His accent makes learning extremely difficult. His class is very math intensive. However, because no one learns, it makes a very nice curve for the class. Expect to be very stressed and freaked out because you haven't learned a thing by the time finals come around.
It was pretty simple and straightfoward to get an A in his class. I've had professors that pulled their midterms and finals out of their a$$es. For Yin, all you really needed to do was study his practice midterm and final and the examples he had on his lecture notes. True, the examples were somewhat hard to follow, but that's what TAs are for. Its easy to get an A in his class. I'm glad I chose him over McDevitt because at least I was practically guaranteed a good grade in his class.
Hello this is America.....yeah, his accent is horrible and the only things you do understand is when he makes sexist jokes about women. I'm not some pro women person but still this is America and in this country, i don't know about his, women do have rights and are independent. Anyways that's beside the point, but his tests are also ridiculous, but i think if you go over the HW and sample midterm you can get a decent grade. Oh, and class is definitely optional since all his notes are on the web, but oh wait, his notes have nothing to do with the homework, so i guess those are optional too....well all i can say is that if you are good with accents then take the class, but personally avoid him at all costs
I had a very difficult time understanding what he was saying in class. I truly feel that Yin made the material much more difficult than it actually was. The problem sets really don't resemble anything that we do in class, so that makes it rather difficult. However, his final was very fair I must say.
He SUCKS!!! Hiz da devil on a mission to demolish our gpa. The worst professor eva...what does he think hiz doin? He does not prepare you for the exams (hiz exams will actually catch you by surprise cuz itz kinda off tangent from wat he told us to study), nor does he have any concerns about the students. I have learned absolutely nothin from him, nor did anyones else for dat matter. He can't speak english, and hiz "proud" power point lectures aren't all that great. Matter infact, itz very hard to understand his lectures because it does not conicide with the textbook. Although, he tries to make up for his incompetence through practical jokes, but dat still does not excuse him from wasting our valuable time. I don't understand how ucla could of hired someone like him. Unless yor up for an arrogant and unconcerned prof, i do not recommend him at any cause.
Professor Yin has by far been the worst Professor I have encountered. I have no doubt that he is an educated man, but in order to be a successful teacher he should consider teaching in his native tongue. Usually a student can overwhelm a bad Professor via hardwork and a good textbook, but with Yin any attempt was useless. If you like to live dangerously and like having slide shows read to you take him, if you want to learn seek other options.
This professor is useless. I wonder why our school can't hire a decent professor who can at least speak english. I got a pretty high A on the first midterm, but I think I got lucky. All I have to say is if you take this professor you better know how to study on your own or its ADACEMIC SUICIDE FOR YOU!
