This professor knows what he is teaching and gives engaging lectures. He is very nice and actually cares about your grades and tries to give you the best appropriate grade that you deserve. He also provides the class with past midterms and finals to study before exam. His midterm were very similar to the practice midterms when I took the class. Also, if you need help or have a hard time understanding the material I would recommend for you to go to his office hours because he is very approachable. If you want a good grade and you will put effort then definitely go for him.
He is awesome! But this class is terrible. It was too hard for me. I had the textbook and learned to do the problems but unless you're willing to spend several hours self studying it is very difficult, even with attending the 4 hour long review sessions. I love prof Conley and he is super patient, friendly, and helpful but 31A is a menace. Homework is done online via a site that shows you the steps if you forfeit the point and there's a lot of opportunities to practice. But math is hard. I am selling the physical textbook **********
Conley is an amazing professor. His lectures are straightforward and he takes his time out to explain everything very clearly. He holds review sessions before every test and proceeds to go over literally everything. Homework was simple and his tests are very direct and almost straight from the textbook. 10/10 would recommend him.
Lectures were very thorough and incredibly detailed! The review sessions were super helpful and they would go on for hours until everyone's questions were answered.Sometimes they would go up to 10 P.M! It wasn't mandatory, we were free to come and go as we pleased. Midterms were super fair and he would post practice exams that were similar to the midterms / final exams. Homework was pretty light too, it would be collected once a week and the T.A's and L.A's were helpful too. They even held their own review session. Would recommend this professor 10/10 and would definitely take again!
Conley is probably the best professor you can have for any math class. His lectures are extremely thorough (they can be a little too slow and boring sometimes if you know the material). The workload is really light- he gives out problems from the book every lecture for practice, but you don't have to turn those in for grading. He gives out quizzes every week in the discussion section (which are quite easy). His midterms and final are more challenging than the homework and quizzes, but they are extremely manageable. He posts sample exams before each midterm and final, which are very helpful for practice. I only went to office hours once throughout the quarter, and he was very helpful. Overall, Conley is a great professor- take him whenever you can.
As an entering freshman struggling already in Math previously in high school, I was able to enroll into Professor Conley's Fall Quarter Math 31A class. Despite not checking bruinwalk beforehand, it was absolutely a great decision. My high school experience wasn't great and so it made me lose a lot of confidence in my ability in solving a math problem throughout the years. However, entering Professor Conley's totally changed my perspective of math. He is genuinely a great guy who truly wants people to learn and actually understand the concept he teaches. Although he may go a little slow during his lectures and such, I honestly didn't mind because it helped me to understand the concept even more, thus increasing my confidence. Furthermore, he is definitely for his students. He is willing to go beyond the allotted time (during office hours and midterms/final reviews) for students who are struggling with a particular topic. Although I did get a C, I blame it on myself for not studying hard enough and has nothing to do with Conley's teaching AT ALL.
Conley was an excellent professor. He was patient and explained things really slowly his workload is very low and instead of turning in homework you take quizzes each week. The final and midterm exams are a lot harder than the homework so you can't blow it off. Overall great class and I'm excited to take 31B with him.
I was very fortunate to have Will Conley as my professor for 31A. He was very clear in his explanations, and always made sure that you understood completely. The only bad thing I would say is that having taken the course equivalent in high school, his class seemed to go by very slowly and his explanations became very time-consuming. As a matter of fact, we actually didn't cover a few topics in integration that are necessary for 31B. Overall a very good professor.
