I personally found Professor Li's lectures rather boring and that attending office hours was not helpful because Professor Li never seemed to understand what I was asking. However, her lectures are usually very straightforward, so it's unlikely that you'll have many questions in the first place.
Overall the class is straightforward and the grading is fair. Like the other review said, if you do well on the homework assignments, then you will do well on the tests.
Grading scheme (note that this is for summer):
50% homework (4 hw assignments, lowest grade dropped)
20% midterm (1 midterm)
30% final
The content of numerical methods was kinda boring imo, but Dr. Li's lectures and notes were pretty clear. You may even get away with skipping class and just reading her notes.
Her hw assignments and exams were straight forward. If you do well on hws, you will do well on the exams. MATLAB code is provided for you so you don't really need to know how to code.
She doesn't seem to respond to emails so if you do have questions office hours is your best bet.
Dr. Li is so clear during lecture (even though she is a bit quiet), so there are many times you just really need her notes. The homework is fine because the TA will help you with MATLAB and hints. The tests are very straightforward and she grades very leniently. Overall this is one of the most laid back math classes I had, and I would totally recommend her to everyone!
