Winter 2016 - All i can say is thank god for the TA Sasha, she made class somewhat interesting and always went over what the professor says in lectures. Lectures will seriously drain you, the only times i saw them full were the days of exams but other than that by like the 3rd week there would only be about 10/15 students in class, which was sort of sad because I'm sure he noticed. But he has a very quiet hard to understand voice , I would say because of his age perhaps? But, if you do okay on the exams and get the paper done , you'll at least pass. I wouldn't say 100% I recommend the class but if you see the TA is helping out then yeah.

Slavic 87: This has probably been my worst class at UCLA. The professor is very unorganized and depends on his TA to do everything. The grading scale was constantly changed throughout the quarter and we had a surprise oral midterm thrown at us. I received a B+. I went to professor Ivanov and asked why I received this grade,he couldn't answer because he had no clue why. Beware::: this class will either boost or kill your G.P.A.

This class was super wacky (Russ 128). I expected a deep-voiced red-october slow-talking sort of man and instead found a quiet voiced, high pitched prof. He knew many of the great writers personally and has a deep knowledge of the subject area, but is likely past his prime. He talks VERY slowly and can't hear very well. However, he DOES notice when students don't show up or aren't paying attention - he just doesn't say anything. Because of some absences, he ended up throwing the midterm at us early. I can't say I gave this class much effort. I missed at least four classes and turned in my papers below the page requirements. My '15 page' final paper was only 8 pages, but I still got an A in the class. Super tedious class, but if you can survive the lectures and do the requirements he seems to give you a nod in the gradebook.
