Super easy class. Teaches a lot of consulting and project based work. Personally, I don't like consulting and thought the content was mid, but the class was dumb easy. The professor is very nice and bubbly (sometimes too talkative lol).
You effectively do a small data science project at the end based on a chosen dataset and team.
This class and 141XP share the same grade, of which 140XP accounts for 35%, 141XP the rest 65%. We had a small midterm along with weekly submissions, which mostly got completed during class time. And the end project accounts for quite a bit.

I have never met a sweet, supportive stats teacher as Vivian. She is humorous and encouraging. Her instructions are always quite clear, and the class provided sufficient preparation for us to work with external clients from the next quarter.

I really like Professor Vivian's way of teaching this course! This class focuses a lot more on soft skills rather than the traditional technical concepts, and the class size is also much smaller than usual, which is a pretty brand new experience for me. The activities we do in class are heavily team-based, so these were very good practices for collaboration and communication. Professor Vivian also took the initiative to know everyone in the class (and even took notes of everyone's behavior during class), which shows that she really cares about everyone. She is overall extremely nice and also very helpful during office hours (you can talk to her about anything). In the end, we have to work on a project that requires the group to make a poster, write a report, and present the findings. Not very hard core, but definitely a fun and practical experience to prepare for something you'll encounter during your future work.

Vivian is so easy to talk to whenever I have any questions and concerns. She's very easygoing and her expectations for the course are very manageable since she understands most people taking the class are just waiting to graduate. It's a fun class and I would recommend to anyone taking this class to take it with Vivian.
