Victor Narro is a good man. He cares a lot about his students and wants them to do well. He is also very passionate about the subject of equal justice for all including migrant works. VIctor Narro's class is a lot a of work with the internship but you will definitely learn a lot. It is an easy way to get an A
Victor Narro, is a good man. You will learn a lot about the social injustices in the world. He brings in great speakers, that really motivate you. Listen to what he says, and if you are interested in some sort of social change, go for his class. His assignments are 5 3-4 page reflection papers, and an internship which can be rather time.As for the final, he gave my class 2 questions and we had to answer them, between 5-10 pages total. Its pretty easy. It's usually an early class which is kinda hard. He doesn't like people walking in to late. I.E. 30 min after the start.its a fun class, and you will learn a lot. its pretty cool, and if you have the opportunity to take victor, do it!
The professor is probably the best one I've had in my whole four years here, he cares so deeply for the well being of the students. He provides students with meditation techniques in order for us to have moments of self care all the while teaching us social justice activism tied with nonviolence movements and ideals. Although you would need to apply for the class, I highly recommend it. The class grade was made up of three parts, 3 paper reflections, class participation and discussion, and a final project.
Victor Narro is the most amazing man you will ever meet at UCLA. He is a humble man considering all the great work he has done over the past 2 decades in the immigrant rights/labor movement. If you have the opportunity to take a class with him please do. He is not like any other professor. He actually cares about students' well-being. He is a bit unstructured and doesnt always stick to the syllabus, but everything that comes out of his mouth is invaluable.
Victor is a profound teacher, not in the sense of helping students write papers, or learning how to speak well, but in teaching students about the social injustices that are all around us. Victor Narro has the ability to awaken your consciousness and gives you the opportunity to help others within the community. Don't enroll in his class thinking you are going to be able to sit back and do nothing. You will have the opportunity to do some sort of community work, and really learn about community organizing. He's very approachable and easy to talk to. Enjoy! workload for this class was weekly 2 page reflections on the readings and reflecting on our experiences at our community site. Also group powerpoint at the end of quarter. enjoy!
I took this class when classes were made online so there were a lot of changes made to the class. Professor Narro is very kind and puts the students' needs first. Since the pandemic was on everyone's mind, he would lead mediation and mindfulness workshops in class. I think he is very caring for that reason.
As for the work load, we had assigned readings for the class which were uploaded on CCLE. Each week we had a discussion post but it was very short. Our only big assignments were two 4 page reflections. We were going to have a final paper but that was changed. We often had guest speakers. The class was originally supposed to be 3 hours but he would make the class an hour tops.
