Ways of Reading Race - I'm not an English major, so I didn't know what to expect taking this class. The readings were really interesting. Each week focuses on different communities/subculture and we go into theory about identification and a lot of the class makes you think about behaviors that are often subconscious. The class was two papers and a final project (instead of a final exam). I'd recommend checking in with the TA and talking about your paper before writing it to make sure that you're answering the question since the rubric sometimes felt a little vague.

This was a fantastic course that challenged preconceived ideas and delved into the relationship between race and society in a fascinating manner. There were two professors, Uri McMillan and Marissa Lopez - both of whom were incredibly kind and interesting. The variety of guest speakers certainly made the class even better and allowed for the class to hear from professors with backgrounds in various disciplines.
