Most Helpful Review
Winter 2025 - (Professor Uhls is listed as Tehranian on MyUCLA) Honestly this class was really interesting, and I wasn't expecting much from the previous reviews. I thought the content was engaging, especially if you are already interested in developmental psych. The class is pretty easy and she has changed the way it is structured from the past. Your grade is based on attendance (200pts), weekly discussion posts (100pts), connections paper (300pts), and the final interview paper (400pts). You can also get extra credit (25pts) from posting your child interview on her center's website. The discussion posts are very simple, you just need to post a piece of media (like a meme) that relates to that weeks lectures and respond to 2 others. I thought the papers were both relatively easy and expanded on what we learned in class, just as long as you follow the instructions. Professor Uhls did move our class permanently online after the fires this quarter, but the structure of the class stayed the same. I liked that she also brought in interesting guest speakers that weren't just psych based, they worked in the field of media. She seemed to care about her students and getting feedback from us about the class, so I would recommend taking it.
