Professor Burnett is very funny and engaging. The class material is interesting by itself, but he makes lecture enjoyable and worth going to. Preparing for the all-essay mid-term and final is exhausting but rewarding since the material stays with you. I strongly recommend taking one of his classes, especially Geography 133 because he brings a lot of life to it!
Professor Burnett is nice, funny and flexible. This class is one of most abstract geography class I've ever taken but Burnett breaks down and eloborates the abstract ideas and gives his students a sense of concretness by giving real examples. His lectures are well prepared and all the materials are organized in powerpoint slides. The only thing that students have to do is to copy (literally) the materials projected on the screen and that's it. Exams are drawn from readings and his lecture notes. Yes. There are a fair amount of reading assignments but I barely finished half of them and still got an A. The most effective way to study the midterm and final exam is to form study group. In addition, there is a field assignment by which students are required to write a report about 2 landscapes. The assignments are perfect execise because we can apply what we've learned in the classroom to real geographical settings. I strongly recommend Professor Burnett as a geography professor. You will learn while having fun.
