He's honestly one of the coolest white guys ever. I really loved how engaging him lectures are. They're extremely informative and he's not a boring lecturer. If you asked him a question, he was really nice about it. Never did he feel condescending or mean. Welcoming environment. His essay's are topics you want to talk about so it's not tiresome.
Cool dude but unreasonably picky when it comes to essays. It’s pretty unreal.
He’s picky with the essays goodluck.
- Professor Griffey is probably one of the most understanding professors I have had. When taking this class, it was evident he cared about the students, but also cared on their opinions of how the class was. He truly cares about the subjects we learn and talk about; plus he is very educated on the topics. For work in this class, we had a couple google forms, papers to fill out in class, and lastly 3 papers. There was no midterm or final, or any form of a test.
- Some cons I have are some readings were difficult to stay engaged in, and incorporate into papers. Secondly, he is a slow grader, but he does give great feedback on papers.
- I suggest taking this class if you have a chance to and it was especially interesting to take during the time of the strike.
This is one of my favorite professors from UCLA. I got him as a professor my first quarter and it really set the standard for what I expected from future teachers. The class is a conversation that sticks with amazing and logically assigned content.
Professor Griffey was extremely pleasant, very kind and understanding especially during a quarter within the pandemic. He assigned two papers in the entire course which were our exams, they were not too difficult, they were based on readings we throughly went through during class so it was very straightforward. He graded reasonably and gave helpful feedback when asked. Attend office hours because he is really helpful in clarifying material, as well as giving helpful advice. I would definitely take his class again!
- the class is typically about student workers, but trevor adjusted the curriculum in fall 2020 to also discuss topics like abolition, settler colonialism, slavery and its ties to higher education, academic capitalism. all such good stuff.
- for coursework, we had two papers which were not too bad looking back. pretty open ended but he always said something like "as long as you hit all the points in the assignment i can't give you less than an A." he is a slow grader but gives amazing feedback on papers tbh. during the second half of the quarter, guest speakers came in (bringing in guest speakers is usually how the class is run) and we had worksheets to fill out just to show that we were paying attention.
- overall, i loved this class and the little class community we had so much. i think back to what i learned and got to discuss in it all the time. he is such an accommodating teacher, deserves the world honestly. what a great guy. pay lecturers more!! anyway. take a class with him. i would take one with him again :)
Great guest lecturers, but in second half of quarter little-to-no readings that help for final paper. Four assignments and one in-person midterm that are all fairly easy if you generally keep up with what is going on with the class.
Amazing professor! He's clearly passionate about the material. He makes an effort to listen to class feedback and make any adjustments as needed. Definitely take his class!
