Quarter: Spring 2019
Grade: A+
June 17, 2019

This class is easy, but it's a lot of busy work.
You'll have to do journals, 3 pages each, 12 journals total over the whole quarter, but prof requires Arial 14-pt font so it's easy.

You'll do one debate. it isn't that bad, work with your partner and it'll be fine. you can reference his other debates on the same exact topic on youtube if you get lost. you'll basically spend 4+ weeks in this class watching debates and writing a couple sentences on who you thought won and why on ccle.

The class size is small so you get to know everyone, which takes away the pressure of talking in front of everyone.

Midterm and final are 10% and the answers can always be found in the online textbook that he provides for free on ccle. they're take home.

2 speeches towards the end of the quarter, like 2 mins. easy. basically on what you learned.

overall, would take again, is a GPA booster, gives out extra credit a lot, curves the class, just a lot of busy work esp. towards the end of the quarter, but a ton of it you can do early and not worry about it again.

It's basically a guaranteed A. The last two weeks there's a ton of work, but the rest of the quarter there was basically nothing. Everything you need for the debates is on YouTube. You're not really rewarded for original ideas, so don't waste your time

I took Argumentation (Debate) with him and I really enjoyed it. It was nice having a small class; you really got to know other people in your group as well as other members of the class, and we all got excited to see a few people debate because of what we knew about their personalities. Miller seems dry, and I think I only saw him smile two times, but he's actually really funny- we just could never figure out if it was intentional or not. He's not exactly available; if you want to get a hold of him plan a couple days ahead, but he seems really caring once you actually start talking to him. He trains the whole class to say "I'm ___" before they make a remark, which is how he does grading, and by the end of the class whenever you hear someone introduce themselves you automatically reply, "Hi, _____" without thinking.
The debates are the only part of the class that involve real work; you get comments after it's over so it's best to do a good job, but everyone's good natured and they all have to go through it so it's not a big source of worry.
Grading is easy, and it's a fun class overall- expect your beliefs to be challenged. I recommend it.
