Spring 2024 - This class was great. The topic itself was really cool--we learned about all sorts of surveying topics, from level-rod methods to UAV aerial imaging. Hands-on labs were fun as well; we got to wear a LiDAR backpack that was worth like several hundreds of thousands of dollars. Overall, the class is extremely manageable. Only 1 lecture and lab per week, and labs always finished early. Homeworks/lab assignments would take around 1-2 hours max, and the final project was also kind of fun because we got to use cool software (ArcGIS pro). No midterm, only a final and final project. Professor was fantastic and shoutout to Margit for being an awesome TA!

Winter 2020 - The best professor I have had here at UCLA. Genuinely cares about her students and their learning. It is obvious she has put time into carefully planning her coursework and takes student feedback very seriously. Encourages students to go to office hours. One of the few professors where I do not feel like teaching comes second after research. She has great energy and makes the class feel excited about the course material. Sometimes can be unclear, but if you ask for clarification she is more than willing to put time into clearing it up for you and others in the class. Have taken another class with her this quarter and would love to take another.

Spring 2024 - This class was very interesting! We learned about wave behavior, beaches, and much more. Not too difficult of a class. Calculation-based concepts were simple. No midterm, just homeworks, very short quizzes, final project, and final exam. The final project took a while as it required a lot of MATLAB code setup to run a beach analysis program called XBeach. We had a lecture on the beach which was pretty cool. The professor is very passionate for the subject and the TA was really helpful. Would recommend taking this class, but be aware that the final project (can have a partner if taking the undergraduate c158 class) will take a while
