It wasn't exactly "easy", in part because we just happened to have an influx of bio majors enroll and kill us in the memorizing. But otherwise, the class was as a normal class should be. Study, get an A on the project, go to class and you can get a solid B.
Gillespie is awesome and he really helps you learn. I was concerned about memorizing plant families because I'm usually not a good memorizer, but Gillespie spread out the material and actually made it easy!
There is no book for 111, so you have to come to class, but you'll look forward to it.
Dr. G is one of the most compassionate professors at UCLA. He is also an excellent forest ecologist and truly loves his research and teaching his students. In his early morning classes nobody ever falls asleep because his lectures are animated, entertaining and interesting. His enthusiasm and encouragement coupled with his down to earth attitude make absorbing information effortless. The reason why students think his exams are so "easy" is because his teaching is so effective that the students truly comprehend the material without stressing out. He's also always in his office to help with coursework or just to chat. His sense of humor and interest in student's lives and happiness are remarkable. I wish all of my professors possessd his talent.
This is the type of professor that should be teaching 9AM class... he is very enthusiastic and loud and the time goes by fast. He is really friendly and helpful, and seems to want to make class as painless as possible.
