Every week this class had a reading that blew my mind. I never thought about how interesting the body could be to study sociologically! And its an experience we all have as human beings so its incredibly applicable

This was a very demanding class. I spent so much time on essays, reading materials, and I got an A- which shows how ridiculous this class is graded. Even my TA agreed that Professor Anderson assigned us too much. I had to take this class as a pre-major requirement, so I found it very interesting. The workload was way too much though. It makes me mad how much time I spent on this class lol. The quizzes were always so scary and hard. I would read all the materials and still have trouble with them. Professor Anderson did not care; in fact, she explained once how her quizzes were actually very fair like ok boomer.

She assigns reading from the textbook and the quizzes have some questions from the textbook, so I am glad I got it. I am selling it so text me **********

Took her class in Fall 2013. Although her lectures sometimes get a bit boring, Anderson is a well-organized and generally engaged teacher. Workload was fine, expect a weekly journal (1-2 pages), a quiz (multiple choice, really easy), and two papers (4-6 pages). Overall, an easy A.

Selling (as good as new):
- Course Reader for the Class
- This Book Is Not Required, 4th Edition

Great professor, great class. You think you're woke? Think again.

Set up:
Class Discussion Participation: 20% / 2% per week
Pop Quizzes (Best 4/5): 20% / 5% each
Project Gender at the Mall: 15%
Project Gender & Power: 20%
Final Essay: 25%

Quizzes are on lecture, movies, readings, links. This class has heavy readings but super interesting!
T.A.'s grade fairly and are very helpful.

Getting an A is achievable as long as you do all the readings. Including watching the films.

Books are expensive
- Kaleidoscope $95
- Gender Outlaw $12
- Men Explain Things to Me $10
- Course Reader $?? (Maybe 40)

I have the first three books - loose leaf. Selling all 3 for only $40.
The course reader is on reserve at Powell.

This class isn't a ride in the park. You HAVE to keep up with the readings to do well. I re-read many readings to make sure that I got good pop quiz grades and I still did poorly on two, but one out of five quizzes is dropped. It can be hard to keep up with the readings especially because not only are you reading the material from the course reader, you have to read online articles and two books she forces you to buy. I never opened Brave New World and still got an A, so you don't really need to read that. Something you do need to read is her personal book This Is Not Required because they are many quiz questions about it. Also, one thing that really irked me is that on one of the quizzes, she decided to make 7/10 questions about a boring movie we had to watch and I got a literal F on it even though I watched the majority of the movie. The journals are easy points, and the essays are easy as long as you figure out exactly what your TA wants you to write. Go to their office hours. I liked this class--I felt like a learned a lot of things that I didn't know before. Getting an A is most definitely possible, it's just more work than expected. I am selling the course reader (it has writing in it), the This Book is Not Required (brand new with no writing) and Brave New World which I bought used that is written in.
