Prof. Chichester was one of the sweetest and caring person I have ever met. She TRULY hopes that her students will do well. Although she may come off as a little intimidating at first, she welcomes students to seek her help any time and eventually you'll begin to open up to her. The topic of her class was also very interesting - "What we talk about when we talk about love."
Fairly easy class, if you try your best. I got a B+ in the class, but could've easily gotten an A- if I turned in my journal assignments (which I forgot to bring on the due date). My only regret is the fact that I didn't seek her help that much...never went to her office hours, I just talked to her a couple of times after class but that was it. But nevertheless, she is so caring and sweet! Get her eng comp 3 class if you can! :)
She was very passionate about helping her students and always promoted her office hours during class to encourage students to come. Pretty lenient grader, nice discussions during class that you should participate in if you want those class participation points. Responds fairly quickly to email questions and is enthusiastic about improving your papers. She does seem a bit disorganized, and the notes on the board are pretty hard to read, but they're unimportant. Just pay attention during the class and give yourself some work potential on the essays, and you'll be fine.
Professor Chicester (formally Professor Bonca) is an amazing professor. She assigns readings for each class but they are short and easy to read. Some are truly enjoyable, even though I am a South Campus major. The class itself was really easy. I probably didn't try my best in that class because I was in and out of the hospital that quarter but I still managed to get a B+. If you do all the work, you are pretty much guaranteed a passing grade, at least a B. She makes you do one journal entry every class but they're easy and she doesn't really read them, just make sure you do the readings she assigns for that day. She may assign like two short stories or something easy like that. There are three essays throughout the quarter and we do a rough draft and get lots of feedback before we are actually graded on our final draft. There are also three one page papers due but they are easy and I didn't actually put much effort into them. I loved this class because there were no quizzes or tests and she basically just wanted you to show up. I would recommend her to anyone deciding between professors for English Comp 3. It's an easy passing grade and overall an enjoyable class.
Such a great professor. The theme I had for the class was awesome and she really made it interesting. She is very lenient with grading, and looks more for improvement draft-to-draft then for overall writing prowess. She will help you very much with the drafts of your essay, providing several revisions if you would like. There are three main essays, with three one-page essays due at the end of the quarter that you can do in a couple hours. There is really no classwork besides these things. She is very nice and I highly recommend taking her!
Professor Chichester is a great instructor. She makes the literature easy to understand and is also very interested in original thought. She's also not a stickler for structural essays (she describes it as "organic writing") but really emphasizes that your essays have precise syntax. However, she's very lenient. First drafts aren't graded, only final drafts are. It's also a good idea to go to her office hours or participate a lot during class. She'll get to know your name quick and will definitely take everything about you into account for your final grade.
