There are 5 papers in this class including a set of assignments which she calls "online games." The online games only helps you, not hurts you. The papers are graded by course readers. She is very clear in her lectures about what she wants for the papers and leaves a wide variety of choice of topics for her students. The papers include academic research, social research, and optional group collaboration for the papers. Professor Lohmann is an extremely delightful and joyful woman to be around. She has so much experience in her field and is very lenient with students.
I took this class in the summer and we had one 3 page paper due each week and we did online "games" which took like 10mins. Her lectures are interesting but not very useful for the papers or anything. The TA's grade the paper based on a simple rubric and you can ask for a regrade. If you do well online it replaces a bad paper grade and there's an optional paper that will replace the lowest paper grade. She is super nice, the class just isn't that straightforward.
