I had a really great experience in this class with Peterson. The readings are interesting and they're posted online - pretty classic reads for people wanting to start a business (no textbook). Peterson keeps the lectures relevant by talking about real world events and networking opportunities throughout CA (esp. on campus and in LA). Also, if you have an endeavor you're working on, you can center your project around it to develop a strong pitch for your idea. If you're turned off by entrepreneurship or putting yourself out there, then this class may not be the best fit. Otherwise, I highly recommend 109 w Peterson. Everyone I know did well, and the workload is totally manageable. Go to office hours! He's super helpful and a great guy. My favorite class so far.

This class is a joke. You basically teach yourself from his online articles he posts to his class website. He goes over the same articles in class and may not even get to them. Peterson is always off topic and going to class is a waste of time but participation is 20% of your grade even though he never takes attendance. The entire class is based on coming up with a product to sell and pitching the idea to investors or a team but he is super vague on everything he wants and going to his office hours is not even worth it or any way helpful. He expects a lot from this project which takes the entire semester but he does not explain anything well at all, so you basically have to figure it out on your own. The project is over 50% of your grade and he is not helpful at all. He also grades super harshly compared to the actual information and help he gives you. Take this class if you are serious about being an entrepreneur and have an actual idea you want to pursue, if not then don't even waste your time. This class is not worth taking if you need a communication practicum course!

This class was the worst I've take in my four years at UCLA. Peterson does not seem to care about his students or about teaching. I went to office hours to discuss how I could do better on the next assignment to ask about why I was marked off points and he said he simply graded with the TA on how they felt. Multiple of my classmates had similar issues, and yet he did nothing to offer any clarity. He does not discuss the readings in class, yet expects students to know nit-picky details for the midterm and final. If you care about your GPA, don't take this class.

This class is great if you are interested in creating your own business. The class consists of creating your own product week 1-5 and then figuring out the costs of the product weeks 6-10. The hardest part was coming up with a realistic product along with a picture of it, as well as figuring out the logistics of how much the product would cost. There is also a midterm (10%) and a final(10%) with information from class lectures and basic information from the readings.

This is the best class I have taken at UCLA. The professor was extremely helpful and gave really good feedback. Our class was graded off a midterm (10%), a final (10%), an internal presentation, and an external presentation. If you want to actually make a startup, take this class!!! The professor gives such helpful feedback and constructive criticism. Also, the pitch presentations you have to do (each 2-3 minutes) make you really get into the details of your business and what you need to do to succeed. The readings were so interesting and I actually felt compelled to read all of them in depth because I was so intrigued by the material. If this fits into your class schedule, pease take this class!
