I regretted not taking Hardinger for the entire chem 30 series. As a 30C lecturer, I thought he presented the material relatively well and in an interesting way. His exams were really fair, fairly predictable, and they seem quite low-stress compared with other science tests I have taken. I never recalled falling asleep in his lectures, even though I had him at 8 in the morning. I only wished there were more practice tests around for this particular class when I took it, but the CFQs, PPs and OWLS sets were more than sufficient to prepare for the exams. These handouts form the bible of this class, and they are the key to doing well in the class. Textbook came in handy only as a supplement. Some may find this class helpful when taken in conjunction with chem 30BL.
I wish I had Dr. Hardinger for all of my o-chem training, especially 30B! He is a very good lecturer, because it's o-chem makes sense when he talks about it. He cracks jokes during class that aren't that funny, but it's nice that he does because it breaks the monotomy of the material. His tests are very fair-if you study, they aren't ridiculous at all with the exception of being a little long for the 50 minutes you have to take them. Waking up at 8 for his class is not that painful because he's such a good teacher. The final is cummulative and still quite fair. I'd recommend him to anyone who's taking organic chemistry.
Dr. Hardinger teaches organic chemistry on a conceptual level. I would highly recommend him for chem 30C. As everyone else has stated, he has a nearly endless amount of helpful resources and practice problems on his webpage. As in any science class, you have to put in put in hard work in order to get an A; however, attending his lectures will give you a good conceptual understanding of the course material.
