Stacy Wood is an amazing professor, and I highly recommend her! She is definitely one of the most laid-back and understanding professors I have had, and her students really liked her as a person. We had class on Tuesdays and Thursdays; for the most part, she would lecture on Tuesdays and we would have discussion on Thursdays. During discussions, we would arrange ourselves into groups with the people around us and discuss the weekly readings, and would fill out a group discussion post together for attendance credit. Most of the class was really just participation-based; participation was 30% of our grade, so it was important to come to discussion and to complete any discussion posts etc. We had four other assignments throughout the quarter that were worth another 45% of our grade. She grades super generously, so the median score on each assignment was 100% (basically, if you did the assignment, you were pretty likely to get a perfect score on it). We had a final project worth 25% of our grade which was super open-ended in the sense that we had to choose any topic that we could connect back to the course readings, and could do any kind of project on it (a paper, a video, a PowerPoint, a zine, a podcast, etc). I had a lot of fun putting my project together. She let us work in groups if we wanted to for the project, but the catch was that if you worked with more people you had to increase the work output (for example, if you partnered up, you were expected to do twice the work). The course readings were super fun and interesting and I actually looked forward to reading them each week. She did cancel class a handful of times throughout the quarter, but that's okay. She doesn't give exams or quizzes, which is nice. It was actually really refreshing to have a class that was not stressful this quarter. It was an easy A, and I want to say an easy A+ probably too, but I missed a couple of the class sessions which I'm guessing is what unfortunately bumped me down to an A.
