This class was amazing, Professor Cassarino is so friendly and supportive. She really encourages you to speak up in class, and participation does count. However, the class sizes are small, which makes for a comfortable atmosphere and deep conversations. All assigned readings do need to be done and analyzed enough where you can talk about it for two hours. We had to write two essays, and had a final project. We were also required to discuss /post questions on the class blog site. Overall, if you work hard, read all the assigned readings, and have great time management (we had to close read about 20 poems in the first week and a half) then you should be fine. Professor Cassarino is so knowledgeable and her lecturing style is so unique and refreshing. Highly recommend this class, topics are interesting!
I liked the material of the class. However, The professor's lack of clarity and horrible timing in responding to emails was frustrating to say the least. Overall...I recommend this class with another teacher as my friends who had Hegel did not have any of these problems
STACIE IS THE MOST INCREDIBLE PROFESSOR/TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. I learned more from her in 10 weeks than I learned from all of my English teachers in high school combined. I guarantee that she will make your writing 10 times better, will enhance your critical thinking skills, and grow your love and interest in literature. 4HW with her was great because it was all class based discussions, with Stacie allowing us to create the dialogue and her jumping in occasionally to guide the conversation. She meets with every student one on one to discuss essays in detail, makes you do creative writing pieces, and assigns movies to watch to complement themes in the books you read. A multidisciplinary, relevant, interesting, amazing class. Cannot recommend more.
