I found Abachi's intructions very interesting. He was well organized and came to class exactly on the clock. He is one of the greatest professors I have met at UCLA. I took his class in summer before i started my freshman year and he made my transition very rewarding. His teachings were advanced and difficult yet he taught it in a way where i can follow. I highly recommend him and sadly when i did begin my freshman year at UCLA I was unfortunate to not have an instructor like him.

I enjoyed taking a class with Professor Abachi. He usually explained the ideas in lecture very well, and his clear derivations of formulas usually expanded on the conceptual ideas rather than making the class dry or boring. Outside of class, this professor made himself available all the time--he was always helpful during office hours, on the discussion board of the class website, and on the extra afternoon review sessions that he himself held before exams. He is very knowledgable about the material he teaches and will find different ways to explain this material to make it understandable. I would recommend reading the book and going to his office hours because sometimes he goes a little too fast in lecture, though he does pause often to answer questions during lecture. His exams are straight-forward, and he offers "pretend-exams" that are extremely good to study before midterms and the final.

Abachi may have not been the most effective lecturer, but he is without a doubt, a brilliant man. I had Abachi the 1st quarter he taught 6A, & it was fairly difficult at first. But if you study his practice tests beforehand and understand the HW prob's, you should do fine. He makes up problems and solves them right in front of the class, showing how intelligent he really is: He never uses a calculator. Although this made lectures hard to follow, the main topics he discussed were there. Abachi is used to teaching graduate courses, so you can imagine how difficult it is for him to teach an introductory physics class. He usually answers questions posted on the class website's bulletin board, so you can always post questions there. I was also the lecture-notetaker for his class the 2nd quarter he taught 6A, so I saw that he improved in lecturing style. Overall, Abachi is reasonable to take for 6A.

Prof. Abachi is a nice guy but his teaching method is quite sketchy. The first two weeks of class he came in from 5-15 minutes late and one day he didn't show up and someone had to tell us he cancelled class. But he has been on time from then on. His lectures are ok but he tends to mess up on equations very VERY frequently. And he will also mess up on example problems and sometimes when he tells the history of something he will mess up. One of his mess ups were when he told us that Washington saw that there were two types of charges, positive and negative. But the real person was Franklin, a different guy on a different dollar bill. His exams are ok not the best not the worse but his practice exams range because sometimes it has material we haven't covered that won't be on the test and sometimes it will me missing something. Homework and lab are ok just that he tends to get behind in lab so in lab we are clueless. That's all but he seems to try his best and he tries to be funny when he really isn't.

Professor Abachi's class is not very difficult. I mean, granted the subject matter isn't very difficult in the first place, but his exams are very doable. His lectures are boring, though. he tends to write a bunch of derivations on the board you don't need to know and he confuses himself and makes errors quite often. Anyway, I recommend him. Take him.
