Professor Mohanty is definitely one of the kindest engineering professors I've been able to have. While he isn't totally clear on a lot of concepts, he always gives you plenty of time & opportunities to ask for help & is not a harsh grader. He's also typically down to give extensions if students need them & always asks us if we need more time on understanding something.
The class was relatively easy because the midterms, quizzes, homework, and final were administered online with flexible scheduling. Some of the homework and test problems can be found online/older tests. Lectures were not very engaging, and the professor's slides aren't super helpful either. To do well in the class, you just need to know how to use the various formulas and the steps for solving the problems well. It really helps to have access to prior tests.
Mohanty is literally one of the nicest professors I've met here during my time at UCLA. His lectures aren't too bad, and he really does try his best to make things as clear as possible for us. He's super understanding and lenient with homework deadlines, and even offered to hold extra office hours if we couldn't make them. One thing to be aware of is that his homework and tests are pretty difficult. His homework took a lot of time to get through, especially because they were graded on correctness. The content that he covers in his homework and tests are difficult as well, especially on the tests because it was open internet, open notes, etc. I think he started getting the idea that we were really struggling, so he and the TAs started giving hints on the homework. Doing the homework and tests didn't leave me feeling that great, but I don't know how he curved the class or graded the tests because he definitely was very very lenient on all of us.
