I took his class in summer. He is a really passionate and well-organized professor, although sometimes his pace is a little fast. He explains terms clearly and his examples are all interesting. His class makes me want to study in political science or global studies, although I have never studied those two subjects before. The class is curved and as long as you go to every lecture, it will be easy.
Amazing professor. I took his summer PS20 course and in just six short weeks, he awakened my passion for International Relations--I will be declaring it as my concentration.
He is an organized lecturer and ensures that students understand which are the most important points [he even highlights them on his slides, but never explicitly mentions that]. Tests and quizzes are fair, sometimes even generous. If you pay attention and skim the readings, they shouldn't be a problem. Sometimes, it maybe seem like a lot of material, but it all relates back to the bigger picture he introduces during the first couple lectures.
I took PS20 over the summer. I got an A. The class was curved so that the highest grade point at the end of the class was what your grade was based on. I read the material then used IRTEXT.com to test myself on the online quizzes, multiple choice and true/false questions. I also wrote out all the bolded definitions that are in each chapter and memorized them. You learn a lot, and he is an interesting and funny professor. Enjoy!
n addition to Poli Sci 20, I also took Global Studies 1 with Burgos in spring quarter. He is very clear about what is going to be on the final, to the point where he stamps his feet at critical points in the lecture and highlights important phrases on his powerpoint slides in red. However, it's your job to take his hints and study them.
