Quarter: Winter 2016
Grade: A-

I chose this class simply because it is one of the upper divs that is not proof-heavy.
The first part contains material mainly about bifurcation. The second part is more about solving systems of equations and drawing corresponding phase portraits.

His lectures were not clear for more than 50% of the time unless he provided examples. Sometimes he ran into some sections that are so abstract that I lost attention immediately. Fortunately, his lectures were not always relevant to what will appear on the exam, and fairly speaking, his exams were super easy compared to some of the homework problems especially for Bifurcations.

My TA was a harsh grader, so it is better to consult him first about formatting and the extent of details he may expect. Professor Taranets' test style demands a review of calculus and graphs for some basic functions. Get prepared and you will do fine. He gives generous curves.
