The guest lecturers in this class were often really amazing and better than Detels himself. Interesting material, just a lot of it... a lot repeats itself as well. Not sure what I'm getting in the class yet but I've heard the curve is so generous that you'll get an A if you're above average.
Really easy class, really bad professor. Like horrible. He says "Uhh" after every 4th word, and unfortunately that's not an exaggeration. He talks about himself shamelessly in third person and projects that his definitions and his work is better than everyone else. Even on his tests he'll ask what his opinions are. Stopped going to class after 3rd week and only showed up for the midterm and the final. Got an A so I guess that's that. but seriously I dislike him a lot. I nicknames him Kermit because that's who he sounds like.
That being said, take this class, just don't goto lecture and only study from the lecture slides.
