Art and arch 10 great class! if you are looking for a class to relax and destress then this class should be perfect for that. attend lecture, take great notes, and do the extra credit presentation and you should be set! i got a B+ on midterm, A on final, A's on my essays, and ended up with an A+ in the class. Essays depend on ta though, so make sure your ta is not overly strict. Start early with extra credit!!! many start looking for stage credit after first 3 or 4 weeks. starting early will ensure that you secure at least 3 stage credits.

Arts and Architecture 10 This class was just bad as far as classes go. As a professor, he is terribly disorganized and has delusions of grandeur. His exams would test on random tidbits of information that were irrelevant to the course material and totally contingent on if you were listening at that particular point of his lecture. There were more questions testing us on our knowledge of the logistics of how a lecture went rather than the actual material. They were utterly bad exams. I put next to 0 effort in this class. Didn't study for the midterm or the final, didn't go to 25% of the lectures, faked half of my essays, and still got a B+. I really should have dropped this course in retrospect. If you do decide to take AA10, don't take it with this guy...

Professor Winter was a nice enough guy, even if he was totally full of himself, but this class was a disaster. Like people have said, despite what he claims there is definite favoritism for the athletes. Not only do they get their own review sessions, where it is rumored that they get all the answers, there have been times both explicitly and implicitly that extra credit opportunities have been presented only to athletes. The class itself was mostly entertaining, and the midterm was easy. However, the final turned out to be pretty hard. The real pain is that you have no idea what to study for. He gives no study guides and there is no textbook and most classes tend to consist of a string of bullshit with no uniting theme. I still don't know my grade so I can't say if it is an "easy A" but it is definitely a lot easier if you are an athlete. I would avoid this class if you can just because of the unpredictability of the tests and obvious favoritism.

ART AND ARCHITECTURE 10 Winters offers a lot of extra credit so it is easy to boost your grade a ton. However, he tests on completely random information that comes up throughout his lectures that is completely irrelevant to the class. For example he once asked how he met one of the guest speakers... We never covered anything having to do with architecture which was my main interest but I ended with a good grade and the extra credit performances at the end were very entertaining.

I took Arts and Architecture 10 (course option wasn't given in drop-down menu) I would absolutely NOT recommend this course to anyone. It is not an easy A unless you're an athlete. You learn nothing, and after having memorized several pointless, non-coherent facts, chances are you won't get the grade you deserve. Take any other more fulfilling GE course. The professor is extremely biased -- students involved in sports that missed several lectures received A+'s, while students that attended every singly lecture religiously and went to the review sessions got B's or lower. It's was painful having to sit through the unstimulating, long lectures, and his pompous attitude only added to my displeasure of taking the course. Discussions are even worse. Suck up hard to the TA is my only advice, I personally got screwed over by mine.

I took AA10 w/ him. It was the biggest waste of time I've had at UCLA. Learned nothing useful or interesting. He's hyperactive, which can be interesting, but the class is a joke. Part of our grade was based on how many times we twittered...are you kidding me? I'm not against easy GE's...everyone needs a break. But this was absurd, and the multiple choice midterm and final were kinda random (i dont what else to expect...there were no key concepts to begin with) so it's not a guaranteed easy A. I just don't have enough negative things to say...Nice guy though
