I've got A in 153A and 153C from Prof. Gober so I felt pretty confident about 153B. But Clubb is most of the most terrible professors at UCLA. He loves testing you on stupid minor details that no one cares about. I dropped the class, avoid.
honestly,he is not as good as below evaluations stated. he is simply just an average professor. tests are tricky, and he would make u read the most recent papers regarding the materials covered in class such as translation. avg of the class is around 60ish including the final.
I don't at all agree with Comments below. I got A+ from Gober in 153A and he was supposed to be the harder professor based on the rating. But this guy, Clubb, put up much harder exams and the averages for the 2 midterms were only 65 and 61.
The worst part is that he loves to cover thing in WAY TOO MUCH detail and expect you to know them all. I don't see how people would call him an effective teacher. This is my 4th year in UCLA and he is one of the worst professors I've had so far.
And also, he's really cocky
Prof. Clubb is a pretty effective teacher. His lectures are entertaining (he has dumb but funny jokes) and interesting, and he is straightforward about what you should & shouldn't know. In my opinion there was no unnecessary memorization unlike in other biochem classes. He's not that big on mechanisms unless he specifically points one out. I liked this class way more than 153A & 153C. It has less memorization... more ACTUAL learning. Other biochem profs should teach the way he does.
