Watson is phenomenally engaging and inspiring, very humble, and somehow speaks in perfect sentences while lecturing. Cant overstate how much he brought to the plays. I had never taken a Shakespeare class and left 150b wishing the english major still demanded 3 quarters of shakespeare.

Don't be fooled into taking him. Yes, his lectures might be "interesting," but what's more important that or the grade you receive? First of all, he isn't the one who grades your work whatsoever. If you're lucky enough to get a good TA you'll be fine, but most of the time these English TAs look down upon undergrad students so chances are slim. I would not recommend taking a class with him if you aren't absolutely in LOVE with Shakespeare.

Professor Watson is simple amazing. He is passionate about teaching Shakespeare and everyday he comes to class full of energy. He comes up with good interpretations and yet he is open to diverse interpretations. His exams are extremely fair; he wants his students to succeed and to find the greatness and relevance that Shakespeare plays in our lives. Bravo!

Watson is extremely intelligent and obviously knows what he's talking about. He's very entertaining to listen to and provides incredible insight on the plays read in the course. I wouldn't want to take Shakepeare with anyone else. I'm very good with IDs, so the tests weren't so hard for me, but a lot of students struggled a little with the tests. I say read the texts carefully and you'll be fine. They're entertaining anyway. Fantastic class.
