Took the history&philosophy of sports/PE with prof Mechikoff and absolutely loved it. It's one of my favorite education classes I've taken at ucla. Every week there's a test about an assigned chapter in the book, but the readings really weren't too bad and once you got to class, he would spend half the time reviewing and clarifying things before the test. Once you finished the test you could just leave too. Some classes we watched sports related movies and they were all pretty fun. There's also no hw, just prepping for the tests. Honestly, I found the class pretty relaxing and a good break from my other more demanding classes. I really love how he knew so much about the subject off the top of his head and would just tell us little anecdotes about things to help us learn. The topics we covered in class were actually really interesting. I wasn't so much into the philosophy portions of the class but really enjoyed learning about the history of sports. Also, he would bring in historical artifacts for us to see and even gave us some old coins! I highly recommend the class if you're an ed major/minor or just want to take an easy, interesting upper div elective
