Love this class! Professor is a cute grandpa who is really passionate about Asian art. No midterm, no final. Only 6 "essays" which are more like writing responses since they are so short. However, you do have to take good notes in class because he grades based on what he went over in class. Also, you have to include some stuff from the paper he posted online. The papers are super long but I usually just spend a few minutes skimming through them and pick one useful quote from two sources. I got As on all my papers, but I actually saw quite a few B and B+ when he was handing out the papers, so it's not like you can just not go to class and BS everything (unless you're taking P/NP then you can).
Also, he always end the class like 20-30 minutes early which is another plus.
The professor is really knowledgeable about the course material. The required reading was all uploaded onto CCLE, so I didn't have to spend extra money on reading materials (which more professors should do). The workload was manageable with six 3-page essays. There isn't a clear rubric of how the professor grades the papers, but I think he just checks for a few things. If you attend lectures and utilize the online reading, pretty sure you can get an A in this class. He's not too harsh of a grader on the essays, and there isn't a particular format that he wants it in. There are no midterms nor a final! What's not to love?
