Professor
Richard Rouse
Most Helpful Review
He is an ok prof, very knowledgeable, but I would not take him again. I have never studied so much or worried about my grade as much as I did in his class. He is a very nice man, very accessible if you have questions but your entire grade in his class is based on the cummulative, 3 hour long, final exam. To study for the final there are something like 200 names, battles, etc. to memorize (plus a prepared essay that you write at home, memorize and write in class with no notes)and he expects students to know the date and significance for EACH AND EVERY ONE of the IDS. But he only wants you to identify 30 of them. He will not narrow down the list of 200 IDS though so you are forced to study all of them. There is just to much information to memorize. Even He would write down the wrong dates on the board during lecture and then have to go back and correct himself during the next lecture. He cannot keep all the names and dates straight but he expects his students to! After the final was over my brain felt fried. I was really surprised that my grade came out as well as it did. Oh, and he starts lecturing 5 minutes before class is supposed to start and stops lecturing 5 minutes after the class is supposed to end, so unless all your classes are in close proximity to eachother you're out of luck. If you can take a different prof than rouse you probably should but if you need to take his class he IS manageable (but it's a headache).
