I enjoyed this class immensely, possibly b/c I find abnormal psych to be so interesting in it of itself. However, Repetti was a good professor, and she explained the topics in a clear, concise manner. Also, GRETCHEN her T.A. is amazing!! So so helpful, and gives great review sessions before both midterms and the final. If you do well on the first 2 tests, you don't even need to take the final since she drops the lowest grade! Loved the class. My only critique is that repetti was not very available to help her students aside from her ONE office hour..seems like she's primarily focused on doing her research, not so much on getting to know her students.

I really dreaded taking an abnormal psychology course, but after I took it with Repetti, I fell in love with the subject. She made this topic so interesting & she really is an excellent lecturer. This is the only class in the history of my UCLA career that I have attended ALL the lectures. Just a tip for you if you do take this class - be ALERT during lecture because she talks soooooooooo fast. If you zone out for just a bit, you'll miss a TON of information. Her power point slides are very organized and include all the main points, but you still have to supplement it with your own notes. Like everybody else said, she drops the lowest exam, so the class is on a straight scale. 90% is A-. Each exam is 45 questions, multiple choice. Overall, great professor - highly recommended.

Excellent professor. She teaches the material in order, logically, and explains every concept. The textbook explains everything she doesn't, and she tells you exactly what you need to know. If you go to lecture, take notes, stay awake, and read the book, there is no reason you shouldn't get an A in this class. She even drops your lowest test score! Make sure to go the review.

Repetti is a good professor. She teaches the material in a very straight forward manner and her tests are also very straight forward, but you need to read the book + study the material covered in class. She gives you all the power point slides in advance, and she drops the lowest test score (out of three) and there is no test during finals-week either way!
I have taken the two first tests and don't have to go to class because I already have an A+.
Make sure to study, but if you do, you will do great in this class and it's also very interesting. Only bad thing is that we don't have time to get through all the interesting topics in the book...

I have no idea what the complaints are about. She has extremely straight-forward lectures and exams. As far as dryness, I disagree. I think she has a little East coast flavor that might being going over their heads. Also, she drops one of the three exams. As of now, I could stop going to class and get an A but I'm going to continue going because it is an interesting and worthwhile class.

I don't know why everyone is complaining so much. She is a little dry and tends to speak very slowly which can make it hard to pay attention and be a little irritating. However, she is very clear in the way that she explains things. I missed a few classes and seriously wouldn't even crack the book until a about 2-3 days before the test. I got a solid A. The exams were very fair. However, she does test on material in the book that she doesn't go over in lecture, so read the book!!! Anyway, she is not as bad as these reviews make her out to be. However, if you are NOT a psych major and you are taking this class, that is probably not the best idea.

She has lecture notes that are available in the bookstore, the class is podcast, she posts her power point lectures online before class, and the textbook is not difficult to understand (although it is A LOT of info to remember).

There are 3 exams, and she drops the lowest one. All of the exams are worth the same amount, so if your lowest score is the final, she'll drop that one. The final is cumulative, but if you get 'A's on the first 2 tests, you don't even have to take it. If you do take it, there is a lot less new material on it than on the other tests (about half the amount). The bad thing is that each exam is only 25 questions, so you don't really have as much room to miss that many questions. Because of the fact that she drops the lowest score, she does not give a curve. Although, you won't need it after the lowest score is dropped.

I would take her again.

Repetti is a pretty dry professor. Her lectures are not very interesting. She tends to go very fast over complex material, yet her exams are duable. She co-teaches with Yee-Bradbury which is a wonderful professor. Her lectures are very well organized and you will get a lot out of her lectures. Back to Repetti, she is okay as long as you read the book you will be fine. Class is very interesting.

Very interesting class. Repetti is kind, respectful, and very helpful during office hours. Lectures are straight forward, but do not cover all the material needed for the exams. The exams are tricky, perhaps not the most well written. However, if you read the book and have a clear understanding of the material, you should be able to do well. The subject material is very interesting and the class enjoyable.

Repetti is a bad lecturer. In class you want to either shout out "shut the hell up" or run to the front of the class and hit her.

Her tests are absurd. I studied all the important stuff like how the psychopathologies work, diagnosis, treatment and subtypes. Studying the important stuff, however, got me a C. I expected questions like 'how does schizoprenia work', 'how do you treat mania', or 'how can one differentiate various anxiety disorders'. Rather, there were questions like 'in the video you saw in class, what disease did mary have?' (this was an actual question that appeared on a test.) Given that we saw multiple videos and I didnt take notes on the names of the patients, I could only guess. It was funny how the test covered so much irrevelent stuff that I am sure a Clinical Psychologist with a PHD would not have gotten an A without memorizing unimpotant bulletpoints.

Furthermore she is very unhelpful. When I was sick and had to miss a test all she could say was refer to the sylabus. When I asked her a question about reviewing my final and about why my final score was not entered she said "We were able to make arrangements to review exams 1 and 2, but we are not doing this with the final exams. Any questions about grades for psych 127 should be directed to Professor Yee-Bradbury, after June 28th." Thats just great. Since you are incompotent I have to wait an extra 2 weeks until the REAL co-professor comes back to findout my grade.

All in all, dont take her class if you 1) want to learn 2) want to enjoy lectures 3) want to get a decent and fair grade. If you dont care about any of these three things, Im sure you will enjoy her class.

Repetti was the most boring teacher i have taken in my life, i stopped going to lecture after a while because my neck would hurt after napping so much. Yee-Bradbury on the other hand is awesome. there are 3 tests out of 37 (dont let this trick you because they are HARD) and they drop the lowest score (again dont let this trick you) to "help you out". a C is easy to get if you goto class, a B is easy to get if you study a BIT, an A is pretty hard to get ... need to know every single little detail.
