Winter 2018 - rebeca mendez is truly one of the most beautiful, inspirational, charismatic human beings I had ever met in my life. after the class ends, I did an internship for her. she really trust you on what you do and gives you the freedom. the way she communicates verbally and visually makes you to appreciate nature and lightness. she is a must-take professor before graduating from DMA

Spring 2023 - I liked this class, but I think you have to be pretty interested in social justice and activism. A lot of classmates were really disinterested and it pissed Professor Mendez off which was just never pretty to see, and I could feel this tension of stress and trepidation in class discussions, and it was just a lame cycle. That being said if it does interest you, it's an amazing class, because the material is poignant and relevant and important, talking about alternative ways of being and the changes necessary to subvert dominant white-supremacist capitalist system, especially traditional ways of looking at nature and ecology. The first half of class is about readings and discussions, and then the second half is about the creative process and making a project. Professor Mendez is pretty helpful and open to almost anything, but be firm with your vision and actually care about what you're doing, it'll make the world of difference.
