Sadly, this was the worst class I have taken at UCLA. Professor Hinojosa is very nice, obviously brilliant, and quite approachable and I got an A in the class... but it was still terrible. As a previous poster noted, he uses slides that were evidently prepared for other purposes and I'm pretty sure that we only saw two powerpoint presentations the entire quarter. The class was also supposed to be held for two hours on Tuesday and Thursday but for some reason he decided to hold it for three hours only on Tuesday, causing about half the class to miss an hour of lecture every week because of conflicts with other classes (but to be honest, they didn't miss a thing). The class is extremely disorganized, our "midterm" was due the last day of class, and there was basically no direction for the final paper which was 30 pages long and due almost a week after the quarter ended which was nice in a sense but also postponed the freedom of break for an extra week. I did well in the class so I guess maybe it's easy to do well, but I did go to class every week and I spent forever on the final paper, so I wouldn't exactly call it an easy A. I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone, even though Professor Hinojosa is a great guy.

Winter 2016 - My only regret is that I didn't take him for another class in the Spring. His lectures sometimes are a little unorganized but interesting. You have to argue against him in order to fully appreciate his classes. You should also engage the readings before class and replicate it in his discussions. His lectures are very small. There aren't a lot of students and most of them are very quiet. Try working with him on some projects. His name carries a lot of weight in media, academia, and at UCLA in general. He's a very approachable man. He likes being on TV a lot.
