I stopped going to class after a month. His lectures are exactly word for word from his PowerPoints, which are posted on the class website. I studied for a few hours before each test by going through the PowerPoints and generating MindTap practice tests and got an A on each test. I never even met my TA. There is no need to go to discussion. Homework is one assignment per week which takes maybe an hour.

Rojas is honestly not a bad teacher, but I stopped going to his lectures after week 3 because I found the textbook to be far more useful than his lectures. If I could give myself advice, it would be to not fall behind on the textbook readings. The way I took this class was by following the slides that he would post online and match them to the chapter in the textbook. Rojas uses almost the exact same examples from the textbook. So if you miss lecture, don't feel bad. It isn't anything special.

For the first midterm, it was 25 multiple choice questions. I got a 24/25 and it was fairly easy. For the second midterm, it was again 25 questions and I received a 17/25 and it was somewhat more difficult. For the final, it was 70 questions and it was the most difficult. He focused mainly on the last 2 chapters for the final and it is definitely about understanding the graphs. You will know what I mean if you take the class.

I would recommend Rojas because he is one of the most straightforward econ teachers. However, do well on both midterms so that the final doesn't mess up your final grade like it did with my grade.

Never went to discussion. Never went to office hours. Never went to class, The textbook and his slides are simply all you need. Mindtap practice tests also help. This class is sooooo easy, I had never taken econ in high school and got an A+. Plus, the curve was generous when the class shouldn't have been curved. Take Rojas if you can.

This was a solid class. Everything covered in lecture is on the slides, which is great in case you have to miss class. It's definitely not essential to go, but could be worth it if you don't want to take the time to study the slides on your own later. I took Econ 1 over summer and was able to call MindTap and get them to extend my account to cover fall quarter for Econ 2 too which saved me a lot of money, as the textbook/MindTap are expensive. Textbook is really useful for studying. Midterm 2 was harder than Midterm 1, but I did well on both by studying the textbook. Haven't taken the final yet but heard it's harder than both midterms. Expecting to do fine in the class, especially because Rojas emailed us over Thanksgiving break and said that he'd drop the lowest homework score -- there's weekly HW quizzes due on Friday that are easy to forget if you don't plan ahead. Overall, I liked this class and would recommend it as being very manageable.

I really like Professor Rojas! He pretty much just sticks to the slides for lecture, so I see how others find him boring. But, he asks questions and tries to engage the class that way, which is more than a lot of my professors here have done. He generally has an upbeat attitude and, if nothing else, his lectures are clear and easy to follow. He doesn't bring a lot of personality into lecture, I guess, but he's pleasant and a good teacher, and it's not really his job to entertain us. Midterms are more or less the same as the homework online, so I felt very prepared.

Super boring, not a lot of teaching involved here. He's just not a great teacher.

Rojas is a nice guy, but struggles to keep the attention of his students. In all honesty, his lectures are incredibly boring. If you read the text book and do the homework, you don't really even need to attend. The two midterms were very easy, but the final was a little bit trickier. Midterms are 25 Questions, Multiple Choice - Final is 70 Questions, Multiple Choice. He's very generous with his curve, and will not use it unless it helps your grade. He seems eager to explain concepts to those who are confused, he just doesn't do it all that well. The last 3 chapters before the final were significantly more complex than earlier chapters, and he spent far less time on them since we were running out of time at the end of the quarter. With that being said, he's not the best at pacing the course either. He's a fine professor, and I can definitely say you'll survive his class, it's just a little painful to sit through. He also requires you read the textbook in detail (HW on MindTap with very specific questions every week), so make sure you're up for that, as well. Though, it did me a lot of favors to read the book and practice the concepts that closely, as well.

I like Rojas because he is pretty organized and he goes to each material slowly. But that is where it ends. For me, his lectures are boring and I find it very hard to focus in class. He has powerpoints up for every lecture and just reads off of it. He has two midterms and one final, all multiple choice, and also weekly homework. They weren't that easy. And he also makes you buy the MindTap thing, which cost almost 100 dollars.

I feel like Rojas is actually a pretty good lecturer. It just so happens that I took him for Econ 2, which is a lot of theory and concepts, and that made the lectures dry. I feel that taking Rojas in a more mathematics-heavy course would actually work better for him due to his slow and methodical teaching style.

I only took econ 2 with this guy. I took econ 1 with Mike sproul.

This guy has a quite boring tone. You will often space out or fall asleep.
All the material is on powerpoint which he puts up, but attend lecture for clarification on some of the powerpoint slides.

I have taken both Economics 1 and Economics 2 with Professor Rojas. I really enjoyed his Econ 1 class and did very well in it. I felt very prepared and I feel like he did a very good job of covering the material. However, in Economics 2 I feel like he has not done the same. I have not understood the concepts as well and I feel like he does not go as in depth as he did for Econ 1. When you attend his office hours he is very open to talk to and very willing to help you but he is not very good with responding to emails. He does have very good powerpoints that he posts online but in his lectures he basically just reads off of them.
