I took it when it was his first quarter teaching so it is likely that things have improved. The workload is light, there are only occasional problems on Kudu. Kudu itself isn't very good, but it works. The exams are very hard comparative to the HW. Make sure you understand the practice problems before the test since those match the test's difficulty. The professor is okay. His lectures weren't the best. Some topics were explained sorta confusingly, especially for someone's introduction to physics. However, he definitely cares about your learning and works to accommodate the class's needs. Also, he put a good curve on the tests so that made up for the very hard tests.
Prof Nayana has good intentions and listens to student feedback but when it comes down to it, lecture and homework will not prepare you for exams. The exams are extremely difficult and abstract with lots of mathematical skills required. Additionally I found it very difficult to get a hold of Porf Nayana through email.
I am tempted to say that if this class were in person and not online, it would have been different. But this being said, I would not recommend taking this class online.
This class was unbelievably difficult. The exams were nothing like the homework nor the examples done in class. The only thing to help you prepare for the exams were the challenge sets he made, and those were just as difficult. The only reason many got the grades as shown was due to the crazy curve given at the end of the quarter. I overall was overwhelmed with the lack of consistency and would not take him again. (Side note, he is REALLY nice, but as a teacher, I had a hard time with his class overall).
