Professor Perez-Torres is truly one of the best professors that I have had at UCLA! He is so passionate about his work and demonstrates the most genuine care for students that I've experienced at this university.
He organizes his class through organized PowerPoints that provide a clear structure for each lecture, and he welcomes questions with enthusiasm! We had one midterm that consisted of ID's and explanations, which wasn't too hard if you kept up with the readings. Our final essay explored significant topics within several of the texts, and his prompts were very engaging! I would highly recommend this professor; honestly, I wish I could have taken another class him because he was just so positive and so passionate about the material.
Professor Perez-Torres is a great professor and truly enjoys teaching this subject. He commutes so he understands us commuters being late. If the weather is bad, he may move the class to Zoom for everyone's benefit.
Assignments: 6 ( 3 in-class assignments - don’t worry they are easy and short, 1 take-home midterm exam & 1 midterm paper, and a final paper). The readings are pretty easy, he tries not to pile a lot on us.
This course allowed me to learn a lot about my heritage and was very engaging. I had a rough quarter with work and school but it was still a course that offered understanding and flexibility. 10/10
