Geiselman is an excellent professor. Psychology and law is an interesting course if you want to learn about criminology and law. There are several guest speakers which are a great supplement to the material and lecture. The class is 50% midterm and 50% final, each with slightly more than 80 MC questions. To do well on the tests, you really need to go to lecture, listen carefully, and take good notes because sometimes even subtle things he mentions are on the tests. The textbook is pretty good and it\355s relatively easy to identify the important concepts in it without having to read it extensively. He also hands out a study guide which is very helpful. Geiselman is going on sabbatical for a year, so you'll have to wait awhile to take him, but I highly recommend his class!
Grade received: A-
Thoroughly enjoyed his class. The class is very organized with lecture notes and everything. Material can be a little dry sometimes, but the professor tries really hard to make it interesting. The guest lectures are worth your time, so go to 'em instead of sitting on your butt doin' nothing. Lots of interesting documentary videos. Tests are very straightforward. Majority of the stuff is from lecture, but there are some questions from the book to make sure that you did read it. Text is easy to read and easy to understand. TAs were very helpful, too. Thanks Mike & Alex! =)
I really liked this class and Dr. Geiselman despite the fact that he talks and talks and talks and talks. Seriously, he goes on and on about everything, and then the next class he says "let me review what we talked about last class" and then he talks about it some more. But, even so, I really liked this class. I think Dr. Geiselman is a really nice person and the subject is really interesting. I absolutely recommend going to lecture. He mainly tests us on what he talked about, and if you're in class you know exactly what he's focusing on (b/c he'll talk about it FOREVER). As for the book, mostly all I read were the summaries and the grey boxes and I got an A- in the class.
This is one of the best classes I have taken and I highly recommend taking a class from Professor Geiselman. He knows his stuff and gives great insights into the field! The lectures are really interesting...so go to class!! The tests are really fair and pretty easy if you do the reading and attend lecture.
Read the book! That's my best advice for those wanting to take a class with him. Midterm and final are about 70 questions some of them are confusing but if you read the book, go to class when he shows the videos and when there is a guest speaker you're on the right track. If you find him boring, don't go to lectures that don't have videos because he just repeats what's in the book. Read the book, take good notes during videos and guest speakers and you'll get an A
He's boring sometimes, but his lecturers are interesting.
If you wanna do good in his class, READ THE BOOK.
If you do not do well on the mid-term, don't worry 'cause his final is EASY!!!! Once again, READ THE BOOK! that's the only way to get a good grade. You must be present for videos and gest speakers because he asks questions about them in the final. Good luck!
