I have just submitted the following for my teacher evaluation and thought I should share here as well:
Everything about this course and Professor Sellars is truly magnificent. I honestly wish there were more Professors like him. More Professors that would teach me life long lessons, beyond the classroom settings and in academia. Professor Sellars taught me so many valuable lessons, along with what is actually important in life. It shaped a lot of my newfound perspective on life now. UCLA has good Professors, but I am confident enough to say that the by far is the best one I have ever had and probably ever will have again. He understands the workload, stress, and pressure that we are all under and aims to be the class that does not contribute to that. If anything, in the midst of all the craziness, his class actually calmed me down and alleviated a lot of my stress. Professor Sellars, truly, truly, one of a kind. I wish you could see the meaningful essay prompt he assigned us, this is the only paper I have not only enjoyed writing, but I was actually excited to write it because he made it in a way for us to write and revisit the paper in 10-20 years. I have no words. Amazing is an understatement.

There isn't much to say about this class other than it is super easy. There were 8 assignments and all of them were graded on completion. It was very unclear what the professor wanted in these assignments, he basically told us to write down our feelings. I don't know if I did this correctly, because I don't have a grade yet. And there it is, my only complaint. It is the day before grades are due, and I don't have a grade for a class where there is no grading. I am 99% sure I got an A, but there is no way to know for sure because of how unclear everything is. The TAs are all over the place, all expecting different things. Nevertheless, Peter is a great professor and is extremely passionate. I would 100% take this class again, it is by far the easiest ive taken and he is one of my favorite professors ive had.

This review is for both Peter Sellars and Andrew Martinez, since they both taught the class. The class is very easy, and is structured to make you learn more about yourself, rather than to get a certain letter grade. The class helped me reflect on my life and what I wanted in the future. I learned better ways to live my life and this class helped me re-examine my goals. Attendance is mandatory, but it's only once a week for an hour (even though it's listed as 3). Discussion is definitely mandatory though, but I found that discussion was fairly enlightening. Even if you miss class, just let your TA know and they'll let you make things up. Everybody is very understanding and kind, and I definitely enjoyed this class.

Peter Sellars is an amazing person and gets genuinely excited about what he is talking about. He assigns a lot of different books but they're all very short and not necessarily vital in the class since he explains what points he wants to touch on. I would recommend to anyone with an open mind that wants to learn something interesting

Amazing teacher and amazing man.
WAC100B made me think differently about things. The whole purpose of the course is really to inspire students to consider how their actions impact the world, to be aware of our surroundings, and to live life with joy. We spent most of the course dealing with incredibly depressing subjects (natural disaster, juvenile detention centers, war, torture) but Sellars used these subjects as a platform for thinking about how we can heal ourselves and those around us by living purposefully and beautifully. Instead of hearing the headlines and being depressed, Sellars tells his students that the way to combat horror and sadness is to be as wonderful as you can be. Truly a phenomenal course, featuring a number of great guest speakers, film screenings, etc., but most of all, being taught by a passionate man who is doing his part to change the way people think. Though he is a very busy man and celebrity in his own right, he also makes time to meet with all four hundred or so students in the class, just to get to know you.
