Quarter: Winter 2020
Grade: P
March 15, 2020

This class is heavily presentation-driven. It met five times this quarter, with the first being an introductory presentation by Professor Nonacs. The other four were reserved for group presentations of about 3-4 people each that went for about 25-30 minutes. Prior to each presentation, Professor Nonacs would give a presentation on background material to lay the foundation for the group.

The workload wasn't too bad, but was more than the other fiat lux that I've taken. The fact that my group members did their parts was very helpful, but group presentations can always be a roll of the dice. Professor Nonacs was very accommodating in terms of when we wished to present and on what subject, which was nice, and his presentations were always very engaging. As the other review for this quarter said, all of us passed.

This was a fiat lux, and Professor Nonacs clearly knew how to organize and teach a class well. There were no required materials, and the workload for the class was to choose a presentation topic and give a presentation for 30 minutes between 3-4 people on the topic, then you get a week to write a one-page write-up of what you learned. During each section, Professor Nonacs would give a 30 minute lecture to introduce the topic, then the group would present. Then, there was a discussion on the topic among the whole class after. He was very helpful in accommodating which days we wanted to present and with which topics. Everyone in my class passed.
