Professor Abramson's class is really interesting. He is an engaging lecturer. The material in this class is not so much psychology as it is law and dealing with sex crimes, Constitution, Supreme Court cases, etc. To get a good grade in this class make sure to READ THE BOOK and i mean more than once to get the info in your head. What i do is I highlight the pages and go back and read my highlights again. When the TA sends out the study guide, it is helpful to write down the page number to where you can find the material and go back to read. Another important thing is either go to lectures and take good notes or listen to the podcast and take good notes. I ended up with an A in this class and I didn't even go to lectures that much, but i made sure that I listened to the podcast and read the book thoroughly. His tests are sort of poorly worded in the sense that there are like double negatives in the questions and like it's just the way he writes the questions makes it seem ambiguous or hard to understand since people don't usually talk that way. but I think that if you read and take good notes you will do good in the class. Also if you read before you come into lecture, he usually repeats the information so you don't have to write down everything because it's sort of drilled into your memory. Overall this is a great class to take for a psych elective.

This class is really interesting, but has almost nothing to do with psychology. It you're interested in law school or how sexuality is regulated in the US, this is definitely the class for you. The registrar says the class is three hours, but it never ends up running that long. 2 hours tops. You have a midterm and a final. And here's my main point in writing this: READ THE BOOKS!!! I took the final yesterday, thinking that I was set and sure to ace it because I knew the lecture material really well. But I'd say 60-70% of the test questions started with the phrase "According to the book.....". So if you do decide to take this class (which I really enjoyed!) PLEASE PLEASE read the book!!
