After having been through his course I would say that it ranks up there with most useless class I've taken to date. His lectures were definitely mostly ramblings and let me just say, I don't equate that with teaching at all. I don't feel like I know anything more about circuits than I did entering the course and found the TAs to be of limited help. Definitely don't recommend him if you're even considering choosing the circuit pathway.

Professor Stafsudd was a VERY easy professor. For all homework assignments, he would post the solutions to the assignments so we could check to see if we were right. Although the problems he assigns are a bit hard, once you see the solutions, you figure out the main idea in solving the problems in an instant.

HOWEVER, that doesn't necessarily mean he's that effective during lecture. Many times, he'll ramble about applications in circuits as well as give us a history about each component. After class one day, he once told me and a friend a story about wine in France during the 1800s. After listening to that story, I figured he might be a good history teacher as well!

Nevertheless, the TAs were VERY helpful in lecture, for the most part, and would expand upon Stafsudd's ideas that were discussed during lecture. Without a doubt, he sure has a passion for teaching the course. At times, he lets his passion get the better of him, but all in all he's a great professor.

I'd recommend him, but it would be better if you can find a professor who rambles less about applications to real life and talks more about the course material.
