Azencot was a decent professor. His lectures were ok and informative, but not very engaging. Overall, I learned more in the discussion section than I did in his lecture, and I would recommend taking Ryu over him. Ryu subbed for one of our classes while Azencot was out of town, and he was knowledgeable, engaging, and funny.

This is for PIC 20A. Azencot is a good professor who is rather lenient, explains concepts adequately, and doesn't make the class too difficult. Coming from other PIC classes, it can be kind of underwhelming to have him, as he is not as charismatic/exciting as professors such as Haberland and Virtanen. However, he is still a solid, helpful instructor that you should definitely consider taking a class with.

I personally really enjoyed this class. I was nervous going into it because I had taken a few quarters off from taking any PIC classes but professor Azencot made it pretty easy for me to jump back into it. His teaching style works really well for me. He typically poses a question about how to do something and makes students think through how they would do it. Then proceeds to show us the right way to do it. If you engage in class and really try to think things through it works really well. I learned so much in class I barely had to study for the exams outside of class. The tests were fair and not too difficult although the timing was definitely tight, but I might just take a while to think through programming problems. Our TA went over how to do the homework every week so if you attended section (which happens twice a week) at least semi-regularly you should do pretty well on the homework. The lecture slides and code done in class are posted online so they are easy to go back and to refer to. Professor Azencot might not have had the best ratings but he is honestly one of my favorite and most effective professors I've had at UCLA.
