I also took Econ 1 with Omer and I think he's just inexperienced. I understood some of the material that he presented to us but most of it I did not. I had never taken econ before so this was my first introduction to the subject and it was extremely hard for me. I'm assuming I only got a C+ in this class because the class had to have been curved at the end (I'd be surprised if it wasn't). I felt like a lot of us were struggling and we even had issues with us losing time on our midterm because of some issues with the TAs. Omer tried to make up for it by giving us a take-home quiz but even that was whatever. If he gains more teaching experience and reformats the class I'm sure it would be better.
I took Econ 1 with Omer. It was terrible to say the least. Omer and his TAs where very disorganized. We ended up having our midterm be cut short by twenty minutes because the TA's could not find our exam scripts. Although Omer tried to reprimand this by giving us a take-home quiz, the quiz ended up being extremely difficult and subjective. The TA's did not even agree with his answer key for the take-home test! Don't take him.
I took Econ 1 with Omer during Spring 2017 because it was listed as "the staff" on class planner and this class was hard as shit. I would not take this class unless you are really good at econ- I didn't know anything about econ, kind of interested to learn (since it's the most introductory class) and he taught it like an upper division class for Econ majors. The class breakdown was supposed to be one midterm and one final, but the TAs were so late to the midterm that he decided to do do 20% take home quiz, 20% midterm and 60% final. The tests are completely unnecessarily hard and the TAs are totally useless. I dont know how Econ 101 is with him, but he is a very difficult teacher to understand.
