This was a very easy class. You have 1 single homework assignment every week, it can be done in a couple hours so chill workload. Tests are done at home and open note, and it's not difficult to get 100% on them. The only issue with the class is that the content is fairly boring, as well as the lectures. Eventually I just couldn't really handle it and started skipping lectures, but the lectures are just going over the slides and aren't super necessary to attend. Although if you don't attend, you'd have to go over the slides anyway since you need to understand it in order to do the homework, so it's probably good to attend. Liz is a W prof, this is a real good class to enroll in 1st pass.

I was so scared of this class. He lectures with very explicit power points that he posts online so there's no point of going to class. When he lectures, he sounds like a sped up YouTube video which gets frustrating when taking notes. There are 5 weekly HW assignments that are relatively easy just start a few days before, not the day of. Your TA's office hours are crucial!!! Re-learn how to do matrices- its a big part of this class and you will get the hang of it once you do them a few times. The midterm was mainly multiple choice, fill in the blank (MC format), with some free response (math related). The questions were mainly definitions from the power points. I started studying 2 days before and got a B on the midterm. The final became optional for my class because of corona virus but most of us ended with solid grades.

This class is pretty chill. Personally, I feel like you don't need to attend lectures or read the textbook to understand the concepts since the slides that he posts are super informative. I mainly studied off the lecture slides, the homeworks that the TAs assigned, and clarified a lot of concepts I didn't understand well in the TA office hours which helped me get an A on the midterm. He lectures super fast though, so if you do plan on attending lectures, make sure you take notes on a computer and that your typing skills are insane because he talks FAST.

I would warn future students though that although the class is pretty chill, there is ALOT of terms and concepts that he covers. Although the final isn't cumulative, the concepts on the final build on the concepts that you learn for the midterm, so you'll definitely need to dedicate at least 30 minutes to an hour to review past content everyday if you want to do well on the final.

TL;DR Study slides, homeworks, and go to TA office hours. Professor is a fast talker. Lots of terms and concepts, so review a lot

Initially, this course was a bit confusing since it involved matrixes in a sociology class, but after getting the hang of it, the material was fairly easy. One thing is that he speaks kinda fast and there's a lot of information to cover. Lecture attendance isn't mandatory since the class is podcasted and the slides are posted online. Attendance to discussion is mandatory and my TA was very helpful. We had discussion homework every week. There's a multiple choice midterm and multiple choice final.
