Quarter: Winter 2023
Grade: A

This class had the potential to be super interesting but I just couldn’t engage myself with these lectures. My advice is to sit in the first two rows in class, those students seemed to be having a class. Overall super easy class only a midterm and final and I didn’t do any of the readings. I would say take this if u want an easy comm elective but I kinda wish I took a different comm elective since I only can take 2 before I graduate.

Quarter: Fall 2022

This class barely had any work. We had to deliver 3 speeches of different lengths about basically any topic of our choice. The professor was pretty confusing and frustrating. She didn't release any grades until after the class ended and frequently gave mixed answers to questions.

Quarter: Fall 2022
Grade: A

She's super nice and makes comm 1 super easy. Other classes had finals and actual lectures, we just had 3 speeches. As long as you give decent speeches and show improvement, you'll get a good grade. She really cares about her students and getting to know each other. The only negative was that she only put scores in at the end of the quarter, but she says that unless she contacts you to let you know you're failing, you're probably doing well.

Quarter: Fall 2022
Grade: A

This class is a fairly easy class, only consisting of three assignments throughout the quarter. The only homework for this class is to write and prepare your speeches, the first one being a 40 second introduction of classmate, then a 5 minute informative speech, finally an 8 minute persuasive speech. She also gives participation points for giving feedback on peer speeches. I would definitely take this class again because my public speaking ability greatly improved, and I could tell that my classmates' abilities did as well. Professor Arbabzadah was super supportive throughout the entire quarter and truly wanted her students to do well. She has a sense of humor and very high energy which keeps the class engaging and fun.

Quarter: Spring 2022
Grade: A

This was a great comm upper div! There are three assignments throughout the quarter: midterm paper, final paper, and a fun little thing where you are paired up with a random student and have to introduce each other to the class for 30 seconds. Arbabzadah is great, she lectures as if she is giving a Ted Talk presentation. Sometimes her lectures get a little confusing, and I always went to class in person, but I found her recorded lectures easier to follow sometimes. The papers were very easy to write. You don't need to do the readings (except skimming them in order to have a source or two in your papers). Highly recommend this class!

Quarter: Spring 2022

Professor Arbabzadah is a REALLY nice professor and is super caring. The class is structured as such:
- 45% Midterm "Paper"
- 45% Final "Paper"
- 10% Classmate Introduction

The papers are quite easy to do, you just need to do some of the readings she posts each week, but the bulk of the information comes straight from the slides and they require minimal analysis. I put 'paper' in quotation marks because it's not really an essay. She just gives you four questions to answer and you can get away with just repeating what she says in lecture or paraphrasing the readings.

The classmate introduction is a cute little thing that she does, where she assigns to a classmate at the beginning of the quarter and you'll have to get to know them and introduce them in front of the class - it's super low stress and it's a fun way to get to know someone you probably wouldn't have otherwise.

I gotta admit, the lectures are a bit slow and it's easy to zone out or stop paying attention. They're not even necessary to do well in class, because she posts the slides (class attendance significantly dropped by the end). But I went anyway because she is genuinely a very nice person and has a quirky sense of humor, definitely would take a class with her again.

Nushin is the best professor I have ever taken.
I recommend anyone taking her before they graduate. I have taken two classes with her and it has literally changed my life. The material is important and relevant to what is happening in the world today. There is one midterm which is worth 35% and then a final paper worth 65%. It's an easy class in the sense that everything is interesting and you actually want to learn, but don't expect to just sit through class and still getting an A.
Nushin is a fascinating person and I love that she shares her personal experiences, growing up in Afghanistan.

You only have to do a mid term test and a final paper, both of which are not too challenging if you go to lectures. The course is very interesting and a topic the professor is extremely knowledgeable on.

nushin is super super nice, she's pretty insane too but it doesn't matter because there's just a midterm (writing - 3 questions) and a final ten page paper so honestly you don't need to go to class or really know anything. overall, great class to take.

Quarter: Fall 2017

Nushin is a great and relatively easy professor. There are no textbooks required for this class and no discussion section. She uploads readings that you are supposed to read as homework, but you don't need to read because the midterm and the final material doesn't include the readings at all. You don't have to go to class - just memorize the lecture slides that she shares with the class and know the concepts because the midterm is all blue book; you have to answer long response questions covering lecture topics. Start the final paper early to get a good grade – she says 10 to 12 pages, but 1.5 spaced, not double spaced, so it ends up being pretty long. Otherwise, that's the only work you have to do for the class. Overall, I liked Nushin a lot as a person and she is a very interesting personality.
